Tales from the Caravan...

Show: First Friday October 7th, 2005

Ah, Fall! Finally, we can get back into our monthly First Friday performances on the streets of Augusta. The really hot weather is over and the crowds start to swell. Plus, we can use the excuse that it's October to break out some early HalloweSen costumes. :)

This month, Mari, Candi, and I danced in front of Fierce on Broad Street to a wide variety of Gothy and Hallowe'eny songs, dressed in all black spider faery costumes. What fun! It was definitely not our usual fare, and I think the crowd who braved the rain enjoyed watching our traditional dancing coupled with the very nontraditional costuming. We even got some of the passing onlookers to come up and give it a go.

As always, First Friday is a chance for us to have a casual show that works alot like a full-out dress rehearsal. We get the benefit of dancing for a crowd in full costume, but it's so laid-back that we don't have pre-performace jitters. It's the perfect opportunity to polish our improv. Afterwards, Kelly, Mari and I stopped off at Waffle House before going home. Yum to the multi-grain waffle and yay for First Friday!
