Well, we have now officially gotten our feet wet in the nightclub scene. Okay, well...maybe just a toe. You know, there weren't alot of people there, but to me we did a fantastic job and looked fabulous. And that's all we can promise as entertainers! : ) Those who did come out to support though were greatly appreciated! Thank you. Everytime we do something like this it gives us more guts to push the envelope. I mean afterall, a year ago I would have never thought it possible to perform in a night club around here, much less host our own Hafla. To me this isn't about raising people's awareness of belly-dancing or women's rights, or beauty issues. My mission is much more simple. I am going to be the supreme belly-dance overlord!!! Dance you fools, DANCE! Muhahaha! ::shakes head:: oh my, who was that? : ) No, my mission is to have fun, and to make others happy by introducing them to that word again. To use the eternal words of SpongeBob Squarepants, "F, is for Friends who do stuff together....'U' is for you and me, 'N' is for anywhere and anytime at all, down here in the deep blue sea." ::Hey, anyone got any crackers for all this cheese I'm spreadin? : ) ::

This was a very different sort of event from what we're used to doing. We were hired to dance in the crowd and be general entertainment. A few days before the actual event we found out that we would actually have a stage and performance time as well. It was TONS of fun creating outrageous masks for this masquerade fiasco. It was quite a challenge for us as well, performing Tribal Group Improve with little to no periphereal vision. We did great though. We arrived over an hour before we were set to perform and mingled with the sparse crowd. When the DJ played familiar or trancey danceable songs we bellydanced and performed group and individual solos to it. At 11pm we took the stage with a mysterious melancholy veil number from the Legend movie soundtrack. Afterwards we discarded our veils and danced choreography to The Cure's Lullaby. We announced our Hafla event and passed out flyers. After us, a fire dancer took the stage. Since this was an indoors event, he had to use glowsticks, but he was awesome. Very energetic and mesmerizing to watch and he even did some floorwork! We clapped and offered up a healthy zaghareet after he finished. After a bit more music was played we took the stage again for the second performance we had been asked to do. This time we did our choreographed tambourine number (sans props) going right into our Group Improve of the I Dream of Jeannie remix.
