Tales from the Caravan...

Show: January First Friday, January 7, 2005

This first Friday was hectic for me to say the least! The recent Graniteville train derailment and subsequent gas spill have caused local authorities to put up road blocks and detours everywhere. This has stretched my already long commute from Aiken to North Augusta into an even longer one. So, I rush home, get dressed and grab a Slim Fast for dinner, and rush downtown to dance. I meet up with Jeannie and Ame. Akantha was unable to dance. We go straight into dancing and thanks to the nice weather have a steady amount of people to dance for. I was feeling a little off on some of my movements but we danced for a good hour or so before we take our first break. As we're catching our breath I realize I never stretched before dancing. This is a big no no I always nag my students about. So, I start to slowly dance and stretch to no music. A car stops on Broad St. in front of us with loud music playing. It was probably so loud they couldn't tell we had no music on. They clapped and encouraged me and were great audience members until I realized that they were affecting traffic and then I stopped so that they would go on. After that experience and stretching, the rest of the evening went really well and it was all in all a good dance experience.
